We congratulate our UPERDFI colleague Joey Ochave, ChE ’86, UP Law ’92! As SVP of the UNILAB Group, Joey heads the New and Emerging Businesses initiatives. In his efforts, UNILAB has been sponsoring Thesis Support Grants for Engineering Seniors and student research projects. He is also leader of SPIK, the chemical industry association.
UPAE also awards former Dr. Aura Matias (Dean, 2010-16) as Distinguished Alumna for Engineering Education. Starting her teaching career as a DIEOR instructor upon her graduation in 1982, she is currently the Director of the Philippine Center for Environmental Sustainability Studies (PhilCESS), a research center under the UP National Engineering Center.
We also fete Distinguished Mining Alumnus Graciano “Bobby” Calanog, Jr., EM ’77, a prominent consultant in the field of mining and natural resources. He has supported our Engineering Laptop Drive and sponsors two Thesis Support Grants this AY 2020-21. The awardees will be honored during the forthcoming UPAE Alumni Homecoming on December 5, via Zoom.
