As part of the new 4-year Engineering curriculum that started with the freshmen enrollees in 2017-18, all candidates for graduation in 2022 are required to take part in a Midyear Internship, this July-August 2021. UPERDFI is assisting the College in seeking collaborating companies that will host interns for a 300-hour internship.

Discussions are being held with the representatives of three companies: (1) Acciona International, the Spain-based multinational which is main contractor for the Malolos-Clark segment of the Tutuban-Clark Railway Project (2) Arup Engineers, a global engineering firm which is currently engaged in studies in the transportation sector here in the Philippines, and  (3) LafargeHolcim Philippines, a global cement group which has several ongoing collaborations with the College. ED Tito Aliga and Prof. Roseanne Ramos, Chairman of the College’s Committee on Institutional Linkages, are working together to craft the MOAs with the collaborating companies.

With ICE Director Tonette Tanchuling and Asst. Prof. Harold Aquino, Lafarge-Holcim is also perfecting a re-offering of the Sustainable Construction Course hosted by ICE, which was first run as an elective one-semester course in 2014-15, and then in 2018-19. The company has also sponsored a professorial chair, a research grant and scholarships, and furbished a classroom at the ICE.
