In a run-up to the presentation arranged by the Management Association of the Philippines (MAP) to its members in May 2021, the MAP Energy Committee headed by Mr. Ernie Pantangco discussed details with the UP ESM project leads on March 18. These included research Team Leader Dr. Mike Pedrasa, Dean Ferdie Manegdeg, Project Manager Roger Buendia, Technical Advisory Panel Convenor Pete Maniego, UPERDFI President Ferdz de la Cruz and ED Tito Aliga. Riza Mantaring and MAP Vice President Atty. Noel Bonoan also attended the meeting.
Note that in 2019 when the project was being developed, Riza, who was then MAP President, endorsed the research effort. The Energy Committee Chairman at that time, Baste Quiniones, was invited to be part of the Technical Advisory Panel.
Ernie and his colleague Bill Pamintuan suggested that a prior technical presentation to the MAP Energy Sector members be made this April. The invitations will be sent by MAP.
In a related development, MAP member Aboitiz Group through Aboitiz Power’, organized a meeting of LNG Business and Project Development executives Marco Andreola and Marichelle Lister with UPERDFI (Ferdz de la Cruz and Tito Aliga) on March 29 to discuss potential collaborations with UPERDFI and UPCOE. (Aboitiz Power is a MAP member.) Collaborations include technical lectures and research project support in the area of LNG and power in general. UPCOE is one of the collaborating companies in the Aboitiz Group’s Scholarship Program.
