Our longtime donor of Thesis Support Grants, Atty. Ma. Elena C. Ramiro, signed the deed of donation for the Dr. Mariano P. Ramiro Professorial Chair in Materials Engineering on June 1, celebrating the first day of Pres Val Reyes’ term!
A UP Law graduate with a BS Math degree, Ms. Marilen has been funding five TSGs since 2016-17. This chair honors her late father, who worked with the then National Economic Council and deployed to the National Science Development Board (forerunner of DOST). He was instrumental in setting up the Philippine Textile Research Institute (PTRI) in 1965. He was a government scholar who went to the University of Wisconsin for his doctoral degree in Chemistry, with research focus in Textiles.
