UPERDFI congratulates the Department of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research (DIEOR) which celebrated its 50th founding anniversary on July 31 via Zoom with the theme, “Pursuit of the Optimum”. Founding Chairman Dr. Luis Pascual, recounted the brief history of the department. UP Industrial Engineering Alumni Association (UPIEAA) President Ricky Peña shared the impact that IE alumni can bring in different sectors.
As the keynote speaker, Ambassador Francis Chua, IE ‘71, acknowledged the contribution of IE-OR knowledge and skills he acquired for his success, and stressed the IEs’ distinct ability to engineer harmony and generate results. Francis sponsors the UPCOE Undergraduate Project Competition.
IE alumni participated in the event by sending their video greetings and collaborating to perform the Golden Anniversary Anthem entitled “Here Our Hearts Will Stay”. The event was organized by the DIEOR led by Department Chairman Erickson Llaguno.
