Brian Tan (CE ‘01) established the David Y. Tan UPERDFI Golden Jubilee Professorial Chair in Geotechnical Engineering. Brian is a third generation civil engineer from UP Diliman, his grandfather being deceased UPERDFI member Antonio G. Tan (CE ‘37), and his father David Y. Tan (CE ‘73 summa cum laude).
Brian owns and is the principal engineer of the Brian B. Tan Engineering Consultancy Services, which provides geotechnical services. In 2018, he received the UPAE Professional Degree Award in Civil Engineering.
Brian sponsors the Dr. Salvador F. Reyes Academic Excellence Award for Geotechnical Engineering in ICE. The company set up by Antonio, ANTA Construction Corporation, sponsors the Antonio Tan Giok Khun Professorial Chair in Civil Engineering and the David Y. Tan Room at the ICE Building.
