UP and Holcim Philippines signed a Memorandum of Agreement on September 2 to cement its partnership in developing and offering the CE 197 course in Sustainable Construction for 4th year standing students. This course is designed to enable students in using engineering principles in developing innovative strategies to positively influence human life, the environment, and the sustainability impact of engineering infrastructure. The principal lecturer/facilitator for the 16-week course is Prof. Diocel Harold M. Aquino of the Construction Engineering and Management and Environmental and Energy Engineering Groups with lecturers from Holcim handling specific class sessions. As the course name suggests, the partnership aims to mainstream sustainability principles in the Philippine construction industry.
