The UPERDFI trustees, officers and staff, and scholars and faculty members who have received support administered by UPERDFI, met with the Philippine Council for NGO Certification (PCNC) evaluators on September 27, 2021 for the online evaluation of its programs and operations. A breakout session was held in the afternoon to discuss the impact of UPERDFI’s interventions in supporting UP College of Engineering faculty, students, research and development and infrastructure. The renewal of UPERDFI’s PCNC Certification will rely on the results of the deliberations by the PCNC Board.
The Management Committee is working on addressing the immediate concerns arising from the discussion with PCNC and will later on take up at the Board level the long-term recommendations such as succession planning.
The PCNC certification is a seal of good governance, management and accountability for NGOs, which serves as the basis of the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) in approving the donee status. With donee status, donations made to UPERDFI are exempted from donor’s tax and are deductible from the taxable income of donors.
