The Uratex Group of Companies provided UPERDFI a list of research topics and explored how collaboration between Uratex and the UPCOE on these topics could be initiated. A meeting between the UPCOE and Uratex was hosted by Chicho Mantaring, UPERDFI Innovation Committee Chairman last December 27. Present for the UPCoE were Dean Ferdie Manegdeg and Associate Dean Eden May Dela Peña. Present at the Uratex side were Peachy Medina, Managing Director of the Uratex Group of Companies, Norman Juguilon, Head of the Technical Group of Uratex, Abigail Carino of Corporate Communication and a number of other Uratex technical and corporate communication staff.
Dean Manegdeg explained the different mechanisms for collaboration where depending on the complexity of the research and the urgency of the activity, it could be either students or faculty experts involved. Another meeting is being planned within the month with possible faculty collaborators in attendance so discussion can proceed to the next level.
Peachy Medina and Norman Juguilon are members of UPERDFI. The group, via Multiflex RNC Corporation, currently supports three UPCOE Professorial Chairs, five scholarship slots and several Thesis Support Grants.
