Dr. Aura C. Matias, IE ‘82 donated the DIEOR Golden Jubilee Professorial Chair in Human Factors and Ergonomics, named in honor of the memory of her departed husband Renato Bernales Matias. Renato studied in UPCOE and shifted to the BS Architecture program in the UP College of Architecture. He later on parlayed his education to become an entrepreneur, by establishing the Aqualine Integrated Systems, Inc., which is involved in water supply and engineering services. As an alumnus member of the Tau Alpha Fraternity, he was deeply involved in supporting student activities in the College of Engineering such as establishing the Tau Alpha Student Loan Guarantee fund and the Engineering Fraternities United (EFU).
This is the second professorial chair that Dean Aura is sponsoring, the first being the Dr. Maria Aura Teodora Castillo Matias Professorial Chair in Human Factors and Ergonomics, in 2020.
