In the culminating event for GBF’s 30th year held on August 17 at The Westin Manila, the GBF President Lance Gokongwei and Executive Director Grace Colet presented the renewed thrust in implementing its purpose – ‘Building the future through education’. This was espoused by the patriarch, Mr. John Gokongwei, Jr. right from the founding of the Foundation.
GBF has been sponsoring scholarships in UPCOE for several years. Other Gokongwei group companies supporting UPCOE are the Universal Robina Corporation (research grants) and JG Summit Petrochemicals (thesis support grants).
The 200+ guests came from numerous partner institutions from all over the country, including the UP College of Education and the UP College of Engineering. GBF’s focus on scholarships and student projects was expounded upon, with increased support to STEM teachers. The sharing of GBF leaders, including Mr. John’s brother, James Go, gave the event the feel of a clan happily in the service of the nation!
