Led by Department Chairman Dr. John Carlo Garcia, the Dept of Mechanical hosted a gathering of ME alumni at the Cristy Hernandez Activity Center on Saturday, December 9. After a generous lunch, John Carlo presented the DME Situationer, discussing the present state of the Department and its plans, particularly in modernizing existing ME laboratories and setting up new ones, and in engaging companies to host internships.
Dean Tonette Tanchuling welcomed the delegates. She congratulated DME for passing the recent ACBET Assessment Exercise, one of several degree programs of the College that made the grade. Former Dean Aura Matias, who heads the college-wide Quality/Accreditation Program, thanked DME for their united effort.
Outstanding Alumni, both based in the country and overseas, were recognized. UPERDFI members in attendance included Teng Aguilar (ME ‘85), Ji Reyes (ME ‘84) and Tito Aliga (ME ‘66.) Several younger alumni expressed interest in supporting COE projects, such as internships and scholarships, and research projects.
DME Faculty and students joined the alumni for a merry and festive occasion!
