SEM-Calaca Power Corporation and Southwest Luzon Power Generation Corporation signed a Deed of Donation with the University of the Philippines to provide testing equipment at the DMMME on December 14, 2023. Semirara Mining President Cristina Consunji-Gotianun and UP Diliman Chancellor Atty. Carlo Vistan did the honors in a special ceremony held at the DMMME Theater. Witnesses included Lean Depusoy, Performance Superintendent of SEM-Calaca, Ansel Mendoza, OIC Performance Superintendent of Southwest Luzon, Dean Tonette Tanchuling and DMMME Chairman Mitch Oyales.
Also present was UPERDFI Adviser Sid Consunji, Chairman/CEO of Semirara Mining, Chris Gotianun, VP Business Development, Kwun-Phite Lock, VP Marketing, and DMMME Faculty and staff.
The signing ceremony was followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the refurbished DMMME Lab and a sumptuous lunch.
Semirara is part of the DMCI conglomerate of companies that is generously helping in modernizing and or setting up UPCOE laboratories. Recent gifts include the Universal Testing Machine for the ICE Construction Materials Lab (turned over in July 2023), and the ongoing finalization of details to equip the ICE Fire Laboratory.
