On February 10, 2024, the Philsaga Mining Corporation dispatched an emergency response team to assist with the search and retrieval operation and initial relief goods distribution for the Masara landslide orphans in Maco, Davao de Oro, demonstrating the company’s solidarity with the affected communities.
In a parallel effort, the DENR and Philsaga signed a MOA on March 6, 2024, to revitalize Dagon Creek’s riverbank in Barangay Mambalili, Loreto, Agusan del Sur, reducing travel time for tourists and improving the local economy. The PMC-funded project aims to restore 9 kilometers of river banks by planting unique native tree species. Dagon Creek is within the ecologically significant AMWS-Protected Area, home to diverse habitats and rare species.
UPERDFI lauds Philsaga, led by its President and our Member Raul Villanueva, for actively pursuing opportunities to serve communities in Mindanao. We also thank Philsaga for its support by means of scholarships, thesis grants, and a professorial chair award.
