The DOST Science & Technology Foundation Unit composed of Melvin Jusi, Dex Abino, Corly Canilao and Kaelle Calzado met with UPERDFI Executive Director Tito Aliga, Deputy ED Norika Ishikawa and Accountant Nelly Manalo on March 18, 2024 at the UPERDFI Office to share the upcoming updates on the DOST SFU policies and exchange ideas on making collaborations among S&T foundations more meaningful.

The DOST SFU Team also observed some of UPERDFI’s projects such as the UP College of Engineering Computing Facility set up in 2023. They also visited UPSCALE and met with two student start-ups being shepherded by UPSCALE and receiving prototyping grants from UPERDFI. Leads of AAClatan and KoolGear demonstrated the technologies that they have developed to date.

Subsequently, ED Tito Aliga introduced Melvin and his team to the Aboitiz Foundation, where a zoom meeting was held on April 1 with Aboitiz Foundation President Ms. Ginggay Hontiveros and her team. DOST SFU is upscaling its efforts to mobilize corporate foundations to increase focus on to S&T.
