With the introduction of Consul Vanessa Bago-Llona, UPERDFI ED Tito Aliga organized a discovery meeting among Amini CEO and Founder Kate Kallot and Head of Platforms Zoe Cayetano, the UP College of Engineering AI Program Professors Pros Naval and Migs Remolona, and National Engineering Center Deputy ED and GE Professor Jak Sarmiento to discuss potential partnership opportunities in the fields of data science and AI on July 17.

Amini, a Kenya-based startup has been working on infrastructure, capacity development and AI and data application programs that promote access to, and use of AI in the Global South. The group will work on developing a Memorandum of Understanding to enable collaborative projects such as trainings in data science and analytics, AI programs, joint research and co-development of applications in the actual cases. Amini, which means FAITH in the Swahili language, has already set in place working arrangements in Kenya and Barbados.
