We thank our Adviser, Mr. Cesar Virata, for sponsoring the Cesar E. A Virata Professorial Chair in Industrial Engineering! The Deed of Donation was signed on June 13, which included his donation for the Chair Endowment Fund!
Mr. Virata is currently the Vice Chairman of the Board of Rizal Commercial Banking Corporation (RCBC). A UP BS Mechanical Engineering and BS Business Administration alumnus with an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, he lived a distinguished career in academe (rising to become the Dean of the UP College of Business Administration) and in industry (rising to become the Managing Partner of the Management Services Division of SGV & Co). In government, he was the founding Chairman of the Department of Trade and Industry’s Board of Investments, and became the Finance Minister and Prime Minister of the Philippines.
